Choosing an RO plant that is too small means water shortages; too big means extra cost. Here is a simple method.
1. Estimate daily water requirement
Drinking water need is roughly 3-4 litres per person per day in offices and schools, and 8-10 litres per person in homes, hostels and hospitals (drinking + cooking).
2. Decide operating hours
Most plants run 8-12 hours a day, filling a storage tank.
3. Apply the formula
Required LPH = Daily litres / Operating hours. Example: 300 employees x 4 L = 1200 L/day; 1200 / 10 hours = 120 LPH, so choose a 250 LPH plant for a comfortable margin.
4. Check your water quality
High TDS or hardness reduces output, so a water test helps us design the right pre-treatment.
